For new Muslims
Everything you need in the first year, in one place
The first months are a lot of new vocabulary at once. Prayr is built so you can start using it before you understand all of it — transliteration everywhere, plain English explanations, and nothing that assumes you already know the terms.
Where to start
The five prayers, and knowing when they are
The hardest part at the beginning is not belief, it is logistics. Five prayers a day at times that move with the sun, in a language you are still learning, around a life that was not built around them.
Start with the times. Set your location, pick the calculation method your local masjid uses, and turn on a reminder for the prayer you are most likely to miss. That one setting does more than anything else in the app.
Then let everything else come gradually. The Qur'an is there when you want to read it. The du'as are there with transliteration when you want to learn one. Nothing expires and nothing is waiting on you.

Things that help when you are new
- Transliteration everywhere
- Every du'a has the Arabic written out phonetically, so you can say it correctly long before you can read the script.
- Plain English
- Translations and articles written without assuming you know the terminology. Where a term is used, it is explained.
- No shame in the tracker
- A prayer you have not logged is neutral, not red. Missing one is not turned into a screen full of failure.
- No account needed
- Open it and use everything. Nothing asks who you are before it will show you a prayer time.
- No social feed
- Nobody can see your prayer history, your streak, or what you have been reading. There is no community feed to perform for.
- One app instead of six
- Times, Qur'an, du'as, the Hijri date and zakat in one place, so you are not learning six different interfaces at once.
Your first week
A way in, if you want one
- 01
Get the times right
Set your city and method, then check them against your local masjid's timetable once. After that you can trust the screen.
- 02
Pick one prayer to protect
Turn on a reminder for the one you are most likely to lose — usually Fajr or Asr — and let the other four settle around it.
- 03
Learn one du'a
Not twenty. One you will actually use every day, from the transliteration, until you do not need to look.
I cannot read Arabic yet. Can I still use it?
Yes. Every du'a has transliteration and an English meaning alongside the Arabic, and the Qur'an reader shows a translation next to the text. You can use all of it in English from day one and pick up the script at your own pace.
How do I know which prayer time settings to use?
Ask your local masjid which calculation method they use, or start with the default Prayr suggests for your region and compare a few days against their timetable. If one prayer is consistently off by a few minutes, you can adjust that prayer on its own.
Will anyone see that I have missed prayers?
No. Your prayer history is private to you. Prayr has no friends list, no feed, and no leaderboard — there is nowhere for it to be seen.
Is it free?
Yes, all of it, with no account required to start. An account only exists so your settings and history follow you between devices.
